There is surveys that demonstrates that resolution is a big reason why they bought the system. Most of the PS4 games people are buying and play are found on the xbox. If those games perform and look significantly better on xbox scorpio a lot of people will gravitate towards xbox. If those Japanese games held a lot of weight in sells Microsoft wouldn't make a scorpio, but make Japanese games. Since a lot of those Japanese games are cheap to make, but they know as well as everyone they don't.
