I'm quite happy about it, in fact I'm a bit miffed that I have to go to one for my degree. It's not really my thing getting dressed up in a silly hat and collecting a piece of paper and I don't like being looked at! The government were talking about introducing high school graduations in the UK but it when quiet when everyone laughed at them. It's just not part of our culture, Brits tend to find most US ceremonies pretty cheesy.

We just had a leavers' day "party" on the last day then left school and only came back to sit our exams. That was the same when we finished compulsory school (GCSEs aged 16) and optional school (A levels aged 18).
