In my opinion, RE7 fails on a very basic level to be either dark or scary beyond the initial encounter, finding a head in the fridge or a photo, finding a key down a throat or on a gourney, don't change that fact at all.
The moment the first encounter with Jack is over, the game stops being horror and takes on a near comical path of adult dodgeball, puzzles are shit and easy, encounters are nothing but a chore, enemies are not scary and their placement and pattern predictable and boring, the storyline is haphazard and thin, the plot is retarded and the voice acting for the main character sounds like they paid someone on fiverr to do it over the phone.
I had great hopes after the demo, great hopes that were shat all over by an ultimately shit release.
