Maintanenece on a BMW can cost an arm and a leg when you aren't doing the majority of the work yourself.

Narrow down the car you want to 4 different makes/models, and only stray from that selection in terms of generation, eg 3th gen corolla, then 2nd gen if money is tight or 4th gen if you find a deal.

Never buy "whatever you can afford", it always, ALWAYS turns out to be a bad investment.

its common practice for dealers and their financial department to try and convince you that you're getting a great deal and that they did you a favor in getting it.
