Yeah, it's a pretty good performance. It does seem to lose out to the i7's on single threaded performance, but since it has 16 threads it beats i7's that cost considerably more in multi-threaded benchmarks it seems. It might be at a bit of a disadvantage in gaming though, don't think there are any games that use more than 8 threads right now, and most still use 4 I believe. That will of course improve over time, so the Ryzen will age better than the current crop of Intel CPU's, but for here and now performance I think it's going to be pretty close. 

Edit: These are apparently worst case scenario benchmarks. It was tested on an early prototype motherboard with slower memory than the i7's, and it seems that AMD's turbo mode wasn't working yet when they did this test either (which gives the 1700x a 0.4 ghz boost).

Mhmm and we haven't seen tests of their quad cores yet so...
