I live in Goiânia, this happened in Anapolis, where he lived. Very close cities, many people live in one and work/study in the other.

This situation is nonsense, and it`s just escalating everyday more. And also yesterday there was a shooting in a big supermarket ( is Carrefour a thing in USA?) for the most ridiculuous reason and one person died and two are in risk of death.

It always happened, but now it`s coming to places where before were considered security islands and higher classes neighborhoods media is paying attention. But it`s bizarre to think you can die by going to the supermarket or at home...

I`m just finishing my law degree this semester, and now i`m really sorry about it, if I did an engineering course I could use it abroad, a law degree is pretty much useless in other countries...

It's not useless it shows you have been educated to a high standard. I certainly take your point it was probably not the best choice. Were you planning on going into criminal law? That would seem dangerous in itself if the system is corrupt.

Is there not a better place in Brazil you can move to if leaving the country is not an option? Better to be poor and alive than a rich corpse so if it means a drop in living standards it may still be worth doing.

I honestly wish you the very best of luck in getting yourself safe with a better future.

Do you have any distant relatives in other countries that could help you move there?

My family mostly didn`t move abroad, and the only ascendence I have in a very, very, very distant way is Jewish, like my grandgrandgrandfather was jewish, so even if I wanted to go to Israel I`d have much trouble trying to find any proof of that.

I studying many options righ now, the best ones I found were moving to France and Germany to get a Master Degree, it`s the safest way to emigrate whitout being illegal. Emigration is not that hard, mainly to Europe, if you want to study and than look for a job. I really don`t consider other south americans countries much, because most of them aren`t any better. The only place that can be a little better is Uruguay, even Argentina have been through very harsh economical crisis. I would consider Panamá a lot though.
