Dunno about that! Wanting taxes to pay for free college for everyone is pretty far-left in my opinion. It's also a terrible idea. I grew up in a place and time where nearly everyone went to college. It doesn't just automatically benefit everyone. It just means that about half of the people do useless degrees for the sake of getting one, when they really weren't suited to academia. |
How is that far left? That's a capitalist concession to the working class, which is what centrism is. It's the maintainment of capitalism with concessions to workers and working families in order to prevent revolution. These policies came into place during the Great Depression in order to satisfy the workers who were getting really desperate and more extremist. Taxes wouldn't even need to exist in socialism as since the workers would control the means of production themselves there wouldn't need to be wealth redistribution as it would be an economy ran from the bottom-up.
