Because Yooka-Laylee is a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie... R & C is a franchise that has received many sequels since its inception. Banjo-Kazooie is practically dead, as is the collect-a-thon platformer. Knack is just a terrible beat 'em up game, not sure what's particularly retro about it... |
But they're all 3rd person action-platformers. They're a similar type of game and I don't see how one simply being from a franchise that hasn't had a game in a while makes it 'retro'.
Even if you do view it that way, just swap retro for cartoony and the point still stands. There are plenty of both cartoony and retro games (arguably too many retro games). So asking for more is silly.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
