There is no excuse or justification for this kind of attempted violence. Had it not been caught early or if the girl wore product in her hair, it would have been a lot worse.
Whatever gains and moral and logical high ground that the peaceful protests might have had are undermined when these things (or any kind of violence) are not condemned and even (partly or wholly) justified.
Everyone who goes "What happened was wrong but (insert something Trump/conservatives/the GOP/etc did) only shows that you are part of the problem. There is no but. This is downright wrong.
