I honestly don't want the Square that currently exists to make an FFVII remake. 

Sakaguchi is gone. Uematsu is gone. Amano just does marketing material now. Nomura is better when he's just designing characters IMO. 

The guys that are left simply manage bloated budgets and put the cart before the horse. They made a mediocore game into a trilogy and had a Hollywood stage presentation to sell us statuettes, a Florence + The Machine Album, a four part anime, and a CG movie. Oh yeah I guess there was a game coming out too.

I'd much rather have a smaller team focused first on making a great game. I'd bet this game on the likes of a Silicon Games or a Tokyo RPG Factory.
