Obsidian has already gotten Pillars of Eternity 2 adequately crowdfunded, so I think Obsidian has recovered.

"recovered", they survive as a smaller company after what Microsoft did to them. They make indie budget sized games now. They used to work on big games like KOTOR II, Fallout New Vegas etc
