| KingofTrolls said: Nintendo sales does not affect PS/Xbox sales in reality, especially if we talk about handhelv vs home console. This is simple another, different market. If Wii/Wiiu sales are anything close to a factor, bots X1 and PS4 shall do gangbang sales and PS3/360 shall got numbers like... a Wii U ? |
I also think they will appeal to a different market. The hardcore gamers who play 3rd party games will chose between PS4 and X1. Nintendo wil most likely cater to casuals, kids and hardcore gamers who want a second console. I'm just considering the possibility it could interfere, but I'm 90% sure it won't, as you pointed.
A bit off-topic but: Last gen we had close to 280M combined sales. A good portion were casuals. But let's say that PS4 achieves 130M. X1 is generally losing by 2:1, so it's reasonable to assume it does 60 to 70M. This would put this gen at almost 210M (including Wii U). If Switch is mildly sucessful, like 50M, we would be at 260M. If this gen performs a bit above expectations, it could as well end up close or even above the last one. In any case, it won't be way behind the last one as most predict.
