it wouldn't though. You can do this for laptop already as an example. With laptops gfx you play on med/high and with the box you play on max settings.
the problem is whether Nintendo contemplated this from the beginning or not. If not tacking it on later will suck.
As others have said USB-C is also slow at 10GB/s. Although what would be interesting is if it is a thunderbolt 3 port. I know intel is using thunderbolt 3 as USB-C connectors to try and standardise. So it can run a USB-C device too. However, I doubt Nintendo were that forward thinking and are holding an ace up their sleeve.
