Most of the missions  (as far as I got before I gave up) force you to use the car to winch down a door or charge something.  So, you have to bring your car, and then you'll have to find a way to get it to wherever it is you want to go.

Uhh, you can just call the car to your location...

Did you  actually play the game?  Cause you can't just call your car wherever you want.

"You must be standing near a road or looking at a road to call the batmobile".

You can only call the Batmobile on the road, which makes sense, cause it's a car, and the road is a good place to use it.  However, the game frequently forces you to use the Batmobile in places that are distinctly not a road, which forces you to find a way to maneuver your clunky Bamobile into the right position, often having to cross rooftops or other locations where it doesn't make sense to use a car.

It's not like the Batmobile is an optional method of transportation.  You are forced to use it A LOT, which was a common criticism of the game.  Even the Riddler forces you to use the Batmobile because apparently he's now more interested in your driving skills than your detective skills.
