That's not a yes or no question. It would depend on the war.
I grew up during one of the biggest geopolitical boondoggles in modern military history during the Bush administration, so it goes to say I have a pretty cynical outlook on the prospect.
However I'm not naive; when somebody is attacked, preaching pacifism is rather fruitless. If one can adequately defend themselves without the need for retaliation, then I think that's the road you should take, however that's rarely the case in warfare. Ensuring the safety of your people in the face of an aggressive enemy usually means retaliation.

There's also the question of how much I'm needed. We have a Defence Force for a reason, so I'd only really consider it if the troops we had weren't sufficient, especially in instances of asymmetric conflicts.
