I'd be amazed if it wasn't to be honest. Don't need inside information to believe it.

Same. They've been good about it in the past. Only changing to and from teh C3ll messed things up.

Emulating "teh c3ll" is entirely possible on the Playstation 4. If Sony took the same approach as Microsoft.

I don't care about the source or this rumour because it's probably not a reliable insider.

But my thoughts on the ps5 being backwards compatible. I think it's a must. The ps3 to ps4 transition you can understand because it's so different. But the ps4 uses conventional parts. If the ps5 isn't BC I'll be dissapointed.

When it comes to Backwards compatability, I think Sony has learned the hard way.

Basically, if they are forced to include older processors for Emulation, they simply won't bother as it drives up the cost of manufacturing far to much.
Nintendo has managed to get away with it for the last few console generations because it's chips weren't large and expensive to begin with.

If Sony decides to use different hardware (Aka. Not PC.) and breaks backwards compatability, they will likely be forced to take a software approach.

Also it's hard to say if the PS5 will be compatible with ps1 titles.... I mean the ps4 still isn't for no apparent reason... after three years.

Actually, there is a reason why the PS4 isn't compatible with PS1 titles.

It can't read CD's. The Xbox One ironically can though.
No idea why Sony chose the Blu-Ray drive they did, it wasn't the best decision.

Will it be BC like Xb one is BC with 360? or will it be truly BC?

Xb one and 360 are a lot more similar than PS3 and PS4, but MS could not make Xb one properly BC with 360.

Microsoft's approach is probably the best way without having the old hardware in the new console.
But Microsoft isn't brute-forcing the Emulation either... And they are doing ample testing and optimizing and patching of every title.

Plus, because of stupid license agreements, Microsoft isn't allowed to do a blanket backwards compatability rollout, which sucks.

I think we're going to be getting a lower end Ryzen CPU, which will still be much more powerful than the one in the PS4/XBO/Scorpio (if its still using Jaguar.) I also expect a low-mid Vega GPU. One I saw the leaked rumors for was 12 Tflops, with 16 GB of HBM2 RAM. I think they may use that one for a base, but lower the performance slightly for heat reasons to about 11 Tflops, with maybe 12 GB of RAM.

Ryzen and Vega will be old and slow in 2020.
