badgenome said: Haha, I love that the booker of NJPW is Okada's personal hype man. It never ceases to blow my mind that Gedo of all people became the most powerful man in Japanese wrestling today. Everything about him is such a mind fuck versus how he was in the mid '90s as a fat, talented but frequently lazy little junior heavyweight. It was weird enough when he suddenly got super shredded and started working his ass off. I still can't quite grok him running NJPW. Agreed on Goto being too good for his role. I do hope Suzuki-gun has a traitor in NJPW, and part of me thinks it would be incredibly awesome if Tanahashi continues this "I'm the ace forever!" business all the way to a full on heel turn. Problem is the babyface ranks of the main roster are awfully thin right now, especially if you don't count guys who are pushing 50. But it might work if they had Goto run wild as the new savior, shutting down Tanahashi and then rescuing the belt from Suzuki to stop being a pitiful 8-time challenger/8-time loser. |
Oh, come on. Are you telling me that you couldn't see the future greatness and importance of this man? Also, I now understand why he has no trouble seeing out from the tiny space under his head-wrap. He was already used to it.
Stranger things have happened. Rosa Mendez being with the WWE for over a decade, for one.
As for Tanahashi, he would make an INCREDIBLE heel. I remember him playing a kinda-heel against Nakamura and he worked the crowd brilliantly. It would really surprise me, though, as would Goto having any kind of real push. Goto vs. Ziggler is on my list of dream matches.
On a different note, I watched the 2015 Royal Rumble match earlier. Goodness, that was refreshing. I absolutely hated it when I watched it live but now I think it's ridiculously entertaining. The best part is how the crowd struggles to get excited again when a popular babyface runs out only to have Kane or Big Show bash in their hopes like a tire iron to the skull.
