A bit hyperbole no? With those 'million' of immigrants people expected horrible things especially economic wise, and Germany is one of the countriest with one of the lowest unemployment numbers and even every year see their debt schrinking (some on vgchartz were not born when the last time the debt shrinked in the usa).

Honestly economic wise I prefer to live in a country like Germany or even Canada..

German unemployment numbers are not comparable because they do not include someone who is in government courses like basic language etc., so migrants are not in the official unemployment statistic. The middle class has been pushed out of the statistic because you are not allowed to have more than marginal wealth if you want your benefits - statistics have been polished this way for a decade.

I remember some German politician or bishop comparing Israel's wall to some NS concentration camp - did not fly over that well.

Except the fact that Germany as one of the only ones has a decreasing debts in the west, the econimic growth + unemployment numbers are always a bit flawed.   It is a discussion I don't want to join because it is basically 'every country reports it different' and I don't know it all..
