Isnt that something Mexico and other Latin American countires should have done in the first place if they really cared about their sovereignty?

That's how things developed because USA was naturally a very attractive commercial partner, being a big buyer/seller, and being close which facilitated trade. If it stops being good to trade with, countries will start looking for other trade partners, USA is a big and rich country, but is not the only viable option for trade by any means, screwing your relationships with other countries is just bad for you.

Some people here are getting completely out of the subject, which is not "illegal immigrants are bad", of course they are, but the problem is the "ruler" of this powerful country is starting to prove he is going to be a horrible partner for anyone who doesn't accept him as his superior, and not many countries will accept that, and that will hurt USA more than anyone else, as global trade will find its way outside of it, and USA will be excluded from sharing which means no benifiting or profiting from it.

Immigrats are not the issue being discussed here, a horrible leader is.

But the US was doing it since forever with Latin America but in a covertive way. Trump is just open about it thats the difference.
