Brazil isn't a very rich country. |
There is more to wealth than how much GDP your country or an individual has.
You can have poor wages, but have a stupidly massive amount of natural resources that just needs the right foreign investment to accellerate growth.
Brazil is also a Potential Super Power.

Yes, Asia is Australia's future if we talk about economic. In general the whole world's future is Asia. Asia led by united China, of course. |
South America has a total GDP of US$3.205 trillion with a Growth rate of 2-6% with a total population of 422.5 million.
That is money that Mexico can compete for.
I'm not saying they should switch straight out, that would be impossible and stupid.
What they can do is Transition, keep the strong ties with the USA, but form strong ties to other nations as a counter, if the USA declines or tries to push you around you can leverage the ties you have with other nations as leverage, remember the world is bigger than the USA.
Converesly, the USA isn't going to be the worlds biggest super power and largest single economy forever, it will eventually be replaced by another country, may completely go bust, thousands of years of written history and no empire has lasted forever, China, India, Brazil could all replace it, who knows, it would be silly for Mexico to place all it's eggs in the American basket when it can keep those ties and form equally as strong ties with other nations.
Plus, it would be good to see Mexico increase it's Sphere of Influence, on the world stage it always seems like middle powers such as Canada, Norway, New Zealand, Australia etc' has more pull in international affairs than Mexico... Which is sad to see, there is some great culture over there that the world simply adores.
