Not to mention of course that if they wanted to let the xbox brand die they simply would not have reduced the price so as to keep it competitive and in turn take the littlt hit thet did on gaming revenue. They could just let it die of a natural death - but they are not doing that. Also, it is a critical part of their device, entertainment and services strategy (including Windows 10). They can't just separate that part of it from the company that easily now.
