Kinda sounds like damage control after DF's latest report.

Dunno, Sony and Nintendo are still adhering to it. PS5 will come around 2019 and it'll be a new start with new games only playable on that platform, of course it'll have BC with PS4 games due to the architecture.

I think Scorpio will be a new gen for MS that over time will get its own exclusive games.

There are a few things that muddy the waters though.

- The Scorpio is still probably going to be marketed as another version of the XBox One. I haven't seen anything that indicated that it will have games playable only on it, not on other XBox One models, but it is possible.

- Nintendo is now on its own timeline, releasing consoles more frequently and with specs that are out of sync with other consoles on the market  It started with the Wii and has carried through to the Switch, hitting the market mid-way between the PS4 and PS5. Is the Switch next gen vs the PS4 and XBox One?  It's getting really difficult to classify.

Nintendo isn't really on their own timeline. They're just sticking with the 5-6 years between gens. Last gen got Sony and MS off a little, as they went 7-8 years.  I think this gen they're going back to at most 6.  So, the Switch is still next gen, regardless of power. It's coming out ~6 years after the 3DS and ~5 years after the Wii U, so no difference in time there.
