JRPGfan said: That's based on rumours, not fact or reality. Switch will get all the important indie support (see the comments by the developers of Rocket League) and Japanese third party support. Nintendo first party games are also far more attractive to consumers than Sony's first party games. It's not even a contest really: Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Super Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros., etc. The Switch isn't totally devoid of Western third party support either: it's getting Skyrim, Lego Worlds (which looks like a fairly ambitious Lego title), FIFA, NBA2K, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition and Steep. It's only natural that most third party publishers are taking a wait and see approach after the Wii U. I predict the Switch will have a slow start, like the DS, but once it gets going it will attract more third party support.
That whole requiring a smart phone to play online is just misunderstood. We saw the interface of Ultra Street Fighter II Turbo already and you can match with random people and friends without the need of a smartphone, just like on the Wii U. You don't even know the price for the subscription yet. Nintendo can always do a price cut if necessary, so that's not really the biggest issue. And it only costs $260 in Japan, its biggest market, so the price is exaggerated by a lot of people here as well. |
