It comes down to a combination of : Price, Power, Luck, Software Support, Originality and Desirability. At least in my opinion it does. Scorpio is in a strange place I think, it's going to be the most powerful but are developers really ready to take full advantage of what it has to offer? Developers still really don't know how to get the most out of PS4 Pro, mostly because the install base of PS4Pro is probably very minor compared to PS4. If Scorpio wants to beat anything, it has to make sure it beats Xbox One first in terms of Software Support or an artificial genocide of all Xbox Ones. |
I think the reason why 'power doesn't win' has become the standard is because power is related to price/new tech. New, expensive tech can backfire when it's expensive and time consuming to develop for (less games).

Yeah. There were always variables. PS4 was the first to have the more powerful tech at a lower price. The outcome was unavoidable but it ruined a tradition that we in place for as long as I can remember!
