Why does Microsoft xbox scorpio need exclusives when the top best selling games are multiplatform?

Very relevant question.

Makes sense: fanbases for exclusives are big but for pretty clear reason, fanbases for multiplats are even bigger.

Sort of why I wouldn't mind Nintendo going third party: I want their games on PC and for millions more people to be able to play them.
