So looks like some folks on reddit have been hard at work trying to figure out how large the BOTW map is even before the game comes out. Since the gameplay reveal back at E3 2016 there have been a lot of crazy guesses about how big the world it, some saying it was around 2.5 X the size of The Witcher 3. Luckily, looks like someone actually sat down and tried to get an acurate measurement.

Now, obviously simply knowing how big a world is has nothing to do with the quality of the game, or how much there is to do, but I thought this was interesting and wanted to share.

Here's  a picture comparing it to a few other Zelda games, and Skyrim (note that WW is way too small, and they're working to fix it).

And here's a link to the actual calculations used to make the measurements themselves.

Personally, that's a pretty good map size. Plenty of room to have lots to do but not so big that it'll take forever to get from place to place.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
