I did!. NES -> SNES -> 64 (a little). No game cube, no wii for a long time, no wii U for a long time. And as it seems - no switch for a long time.

I did ps1 -> ps2 -> really long period before ps3 (2010) -> PS4.  I believe the PS2->Ps3 era was FF11 and everquest.  I don't recall playing anything else during that period.

Huge fan of the DS, and 3ds though. I didn't actually get that much use out of my psp.  Maybe that is where my time went, I'll have to look when the DS came out.

My path was NES, SNES ... and then I jumped to PS1 when FF7 released.  I was bitter at first but the content on the PS1 made me a believer and it became my most favorite console.

That's when I realized that third-party content is the most important factor for me.

I also skipped the PS3 for much of the generation.  I got into PC MMOs with Ragnarok and WoW and didn't even think about console gaming for a few years.

The truth is, Nintendo lost me and then did nothing to win me back.  It's as simple as that.  I was on Nintendo's "side" when the PS1 was released.  I didn't jump to Playstation on a whim.  I'll take the games I want to play over any kind of company loyalty any day of the year.
