Poor Nintendo always making mistakes. |
Wrong. Nintendo did not make a mistake. They dodged a very large bullet.
I'm quite confident in saying that Nintendo announced the news about "subscription fees" because many Nintendo fans would complain later after they committed and purchased the hardware and would feel betrayed and angered. The expectation and false belief of free online is something that may have factored into their purchased of the Switch and this would have lead to some serious negative press and fan backlash toward Nintendo. A very large bullet is dodged indeed. This was a very vital piece of information that needed to be addressed to the more core Nintendo fans. Nintendo did not go further into the subject of online gaming because they are not yet ready to reveal their plans.
I'm think everything will be detailed at E3 and I think a lot of people are going to feel pretty stupid after everything is laid out.
