I don't get why you are trying to over complicate things. A lot was said prior to the switchs reveal, but one thing today is clear.
The nintendo switch is a handheld console. No gimmicks there. Its a tablet that allows you slide controllers onto it.
Look at it this way, if nintendo were to make a handheld console in 2017, which would be the successor to the 3DS with tech available to use in a handheld form factor in 2017; what you will end up with is the Switch.
They basically made a handheld with a docking station that allows you connect it to a tv and charge said handheld at the same time. Nothing more nothing less.
And the switch CANNOT handle the kinda games a traditional home console will run in 2017. No surprise there, because its not a home console to begin with.
