Even if some of the games are targeting casuals maybe, the device itself isn't (outside the two basic mini controllers gimmick attracting their attention). If they kill off the 3DS and get the handheld horde to buy in, Nintendo is set regardless.
As an aside, I do wonder if the switch will be seen as more 'breakable' by parents than previous handhelds.
