The thread author is correct, Microsoft is the one in the most trouble. Simply put, Xbox isn't a profitable console. They are three for three in making unprofitable consoles. They've been getting pressured for ages now to exit the industry because the truth is that the console market is shrinking. Unless they can steal Sony's spot, the console market will continue to shrink and right now it's tightening like a noose around Xbox's neck.
Right now it's basically treading water and that's the only reason it's still going. They see it as a possible future profit, but they aren't really certain about it. They aren't losing much if any money on it so why not?
Nintendo is actually the most stable of the three. If the worst happens, they'll just drop consoles and go third party. Nintendo as a third party would be more profitable than EA and activision combined. They could easily kick the crap out of the mobile industry if they wanted. When they make money, they make a lot of money.
Sony is only just getting out of its deathbed. It's still weak and nothing is really that stable for them. They're returning to profit, but none of their business ventures are very stable.
