Price isn't everything, value, and percieved one is. If Switch would have launched on 2013 at the same price I doubt people would call it expensive. But it's launching 2017 against consoles stronger (No portability for those though) and that have bigger catalogs. Same thing with online, if the service was like xbox live or psplus people wouldn't complain as much, but nintendo hasn't showed anything that can guarantee it can be at that level.
I think that's where people are coming from when they say it's expensive
