In a rough sense there is somewhere between 100 and 1,000 distinctive climate zones across the 6 continents that have people on them; this means that at any given time several areas will see rare (1 in 100 year) weather patterns, dozens will see somewhat rare weather patterns (1 in 25 years), and most will see weather patterns that are unusual (1 in 5 to 10 years).
Inspite of what you're sold on television ... Abnormal weather is normal weather ...
