All of them are in it for money, what do you expect? Why do you think Sony added $10 to trying to play online on PS+ or charge that much for Vita memory cards or even have a $599 console be a thing? Why do you think Microsoft even bothered to charge Xbox Live Gold in the first place? Why do you think Nintendo charges old games at their prices on VC? Money!!!

They are all businesses first. Its up to you whether or not the things they're charging are worth it for your experience as a gamer.

Personally, I don't like everything Nintendo charges (or any company in that matter), but I can at least trust what they produce so I don't mind that much. I've broken a few PS2 controllers during the time I was playing the PS2 and yet my original GameCube controller (old and worn) still works like it originally did over 14 years ago. I feared at times of my OG Xbox 360 overheating and even its disc slot is sometimes not working. But my Game Boy Advance still works as well my N64. Say what you want about Nintendo, but dammit their hardware are pretty good at being stable even after years of wear and tear. And the games, to me, are worth it. I would preorder Smash, Pokémon, Mario, and Zelda (and, maybe, Splatoon) if they ever produce future installments if I wish because I can trust those games being great. I can't say that for many other series that I'm interested in. Again, this is a personal opinion.
