The problem is not selling to the die hards and scalpers. It is selling to the mainstream and impulse buyers. There is a lot to like about the Switch. I know a lot of people who pre ordered, but will be cancelling due to all the rubbish like extra for online, and it only offering rentals, not actual games for that extra cost. An extremely low number of actual games due out, regardless of the quality. The fabled 3rd party support being mainly old and last gen titles.

With this business model of being very underpowered, but being in the PS4 Pro price range, it will tail off very fast. Which is a real shame, because Nintendo fills an hole nobody else fills. It is just not the reality of where things are going to end up when the dust settles. Which is a crying shame.

My GF told me to buy a (NiS) today ( I didn't). Then she watched some video on the new zelda!  I don't really understand what's going on.

She usually hate vg.

So I don't know about casual.
