I have kind of a question, though I'm not sure if it really applies here. Might as well ask since we have an expert on hand, though, right?

Personally, I love character editors in videogames. Love them. I'm constantly using showracemenu in Bethesda games and tweaking (sometimes messing up) my characters. I also love buildable environments. Unfortunately, they often look terrible until modders come into play. Base level details on Skyrim characters were hideous, for example.

Is this something that's going to see dramatic improvement next gen? Or is what you're talking about only from the perspective of what the artists create themselves?

Character creators, believe it or not, are in high demand from gamers. They'll continue to see massive improvements and overhauls throughout the 9th Generation - particularly for franchises like Elder Scrolls. And, as I understand it, that's just the tip of the iceberg!

Level Creators, well, not as much. That'll see improvements too, but not at the rate of characters (though in fairness, I've heard much less about them).

That's good to hear.  I know I've seen a lot of people mention how much they like working on their characters.  All characters in general, really.  Total Character Makeover is the #3 most endorsed mod on Skyrim SE Nexus.
