I have kind of a question, though I'm not sure if it really applies here. Might as well ask since we have an expert on hand, though, right?
Personally, I love character editors in videogames. Love them. I'm constantly using showracemenu in Bethesda games and tweaking (sometimes messing up) my characters. I also love buildable environments. Unfortunately, they often look terrible until modders come into play. Base level details on Skyrim characters were hideous, for example.
Is this something that's going to see dramatic improvement next gen? Or is what you're talking about only from the perspective of what the artists create themselves?
