But I also love the colourful and bright Musroom kingdom thematic worlds. If the whole game on the other hand isn't featuring those kind of worlds I am not so sure.

That City is just one of many worlds to explore. Who knows what the objective is (collecting Stars?). Those levels also seem to have a day/night cycle.
