Nothing more than the continuation of a trend that has been running for years now. That trend is unlikely to change because of Sony's overall business direction. Nowadays Sony is pushing towards a Steam-like model where games are regularly sold at dumping prices to lure people to their store. This shifts the priority from having individual games that do well for themselves to the store standing above everything else, which in turn means that developing your own games makes less sense.

Valve promotes themselves at the expense of third parties; the dumping prices don't hurt Valve, but developers have trouble to earn revenue despite high unit sales. Sony's lesser studios (the ones who have operated close to break even points to begin with) get affected by such a business model too. If it isn't a big title that people want to buy at launch, chances are high that a game gets ignored until it lands in a flash sale of some sorts because that's how consumer expectations have been formed.

That's basically why the success of the PS4 won't result in a higher amount of first party games, but more likely the opposite. The Sony studios that deliver blockbuster hits are in no danger, but the continued existence of studios who fail to have a real hit is in question every time they have released a new game.

I hate it when I want to post something in a thread but take the time first to read all of the post to see nobody posted something similar...and always at the end of the thread their is someone :p

But yeah nothing new, it is the services that make the money..but Gold and PS plus hould have more sales tho, I am tired of the PSN january sale it already started last year =p.
