Well from my understanding the original plan was a remake, now its a "re-release" (essentially a simple port). FF7 is already playable on many devices and easily accessible for a low price. The same can't be said for Phantom Dust, its a less technically dated game, and more people will probably experience it on X1 than ever before. Bottomline, a port of a rare, cult classic is better than nothing. |
Yes, origionally they were making a new Phantom Dust. Though I don't really think it would be a remake, because it wasn't supposed to be a new version of the origional game, but a totally new, multiplayer only Phantom Dust game.
And yes, being able to play the game on the Xbox One is good since it was only available on the origional Xbox (and then on the 360 through BC). But that doesn't mean it's a fulfillment of the promise of a new Phantom Dust game.
The new Phantom Dust game was cancelled, and they've decided that they can still use the IP by porting over the old game.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
