That's over 4 years of development (Rime developer said the reveal trailer was in-game footage so it had been in development some time before reveal). Maybe Sony wanted to fund a 2 years project, extended it 3 but when it became clear that it was going to miss that they weren't prepared to fund it any longer. They will have projections how much the game will bring in through revenue and developments costs will have to be kept in check. If the game was supposed to release in 2015 and it releases in 2017 then you can probably consider that in development hell. Plus do weknow if the game is near completetion? We've seen 30 mins of gameplay and trailers before that were taken from those 30 minutes I think. Will it still launch in May?

I still think it's damned weird, although I've just been checking around to find any information and can't find what I was looking for. I'm beginning to wonder if I got caught up in a GAF echo chamber.
