While on the internet this looks bad and it has soured many people, reality is this game probably was not going to be successful enough to make a return on a 5 year investment.

The question is what does MS do to address the content for the platform and Scorpio at E3:

Likely:
Halo 6 teaser (2018)
FM7 showcased, launching fall 2017
Sea of Thieves, Crackdown and State of Decay 2 for Q3/Q4 2017 obviously...
Dates for Ashen, Below, Tacoma and Cuphead

But what new announcements could they drop to excite the base (as beyond looks crickets)?

Ryse: 2
A new Splinter Cell (exclusive or timed?)
Alan Wake 2
Mistwalker game (least likely)
Perfect Dark Reboot (most likely next Rare project?)
Phantom Dust (more like a budget Remaster)
New IP teaser by The Coalition? (unlikely)

It'll be interesting for sure to see if they have anything in the tank. Right now losing Scalebound is a big  blow to their efforts to build IP.

I agree it's a blow. But, just like how it came out of nowhere, they could just announce some other new IP. I mean, I'm incredibly hyped for Horizon on PS4 but I didn't know what it was a year ago. With a new console on the immediate horizon, I'm sure something will fill the void.
