You think 50 million people who bought a ps4 bought it for uncharted 4 and bloodborne? If you take away ps4 exclusive it wouldn't even make a dent to Sony's install base, same with Microsoft. Microsoft og xbox lost money and didn't sell well because it didn't have third party support. That is the reason why Microsoft rushed 360 and are now using UWP to entice third party developers to develop on their platforms. Xbox wouldn't be here without third party support and Microsoft knows it. Nintendo is about to get yet again another rude awakening that they need third party support along with an adequate online system.

So the Switch is doomed because of 3rd party support? What makes it so apparent that it won't have it?

In addition to that, the problem you continue to have is the elimination of exclusives as a selling point. In every generation, including the 8th, they have mattered. Multiplatform games will remain one of the strongest cases for a console, no disagreement there, but without exclusives, would the Xbox brand exist? Would any brand exist? Something to consider.

Online service, Console price, Controller, UI, Console design, friends are playing, ect.  Hell, look how xbox one is selling a lot more because of xbox one s. Certainly wasn't because of exclusives. The only time exclusives will matter again is if streaming becomes a thing and every company has their own streaming service or if a company buys out major third party publishers like EA and Activision. I gurantee you Sony didnt even have to make any exclusives and they will still sell well.
