Would not shock me. Xbox's third party exclusives have all been very disappointing in terms of sales and more importantly, Platinum Games' resources have been seriously stretched thin. Since the start of 2013, they have put out or initiated development of Metal Gear Rising Revengence, The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, The Legend of Korra, Transformers: Devastation, Star Fox: Zero, Star Fox: Guard, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan, Nier: Automata, and Scalebound. For the past two years they have been working simultaneously on *SIX* games. When you consider the fact Scalebound was pretty likely to bomb or at least disappoint, has been having development woes, and looks to be the largest possible resource hog of Platinum's many works, it would make sense that if any project were to be shelved, it would be Scalebound. And if the IP is tied up with MS via ownership or contract and the future of the Xbox brand is in question or at least Platinum's continued relationship with MS...well it's as good as canned.
