ESCAPE FROM TARKOV ENTERS EXTENDED ALPHA PHASE

Battlestate Games has announced that its hybrid FPS/MMO, Escape from Tarkov, has entered the extended Alpha stage and will be accepting more players into the Alpha program. The Extended Alpha is a more advanced stage, with several new features being introduced to the game, and more pre-order owners will be granted access to this test phase.

Ubisoft has released a new live action trailer for its new upcoming open-world title, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. This trailer features a cat… and we all love cats. It also features a sniper but… forget the sniper. Or the cartel. Or anything else. It’s all about the cat.

Skydiving into an enemy fortification may be the most impressive way to extract a target, but is it the quietest? Is it even the best way? As this new Ghost Recon Wildlands video demonstrates, it's probably the most violent. In what appears to be a co-operative mission, two separate players take out some guards before a third leaps from a helicopter and smashes through the ceiling of a warehouse.

Slightly Mad Studios has revealed that it plans to release an early version of Project CARS 2 this September. Project CARS 2 was originally announced back in 2015, and it appears that over these past few months a number of screenshots were leaked online.

It’s almost a given by now that we won’t be getting Half-Life 3… ever. Still, this doesn’t mean that Valve wasn’t working on such a game. According to GameInformer’s Andrew Reiner, Half-Life 3 was a hot mess and had a lot of prototypes from very small teams.

Steam sales soothsayer Sergey Galyonkin, otherwise known as the creator of Steam Spy, has released a report on sales of games on Steam in 2016. Alongside Valve's own official ranking of the best-selling PC games of 2016, Galyonkin's graphs and figures provide a more granular picture of how the estimated sales of specific games might compare to one another. It also reinforces something we already knew: 2016 was an insane year for strategy games.

It’s no secret that for a time, Epic Games was focused on console gaming. While its roots were in PC gaming, the company felt the need to focus on consoles for almost six years in order to survive. And according to Tim Sweeney, that was a wise decision as before Steam, PC game revenue started falling off a cliff.
