For one thing it was more expensive, like the scorpio will be.

But it was also bad precieved value (ei. payed alot, and could get versions weaker than a PS4).

It had no exclusives, you couldnt play on any old pc you had instead.

Basically it was jugded based on how much better it would be than a normal PC, because the software ecosystem was the same as a PC's.

It didnt meet up to what a PC can do.

 

MS's scorpio will atleast not have most of those issues.

The biggest issue is that it is too expensive.  ANd the argument that it will give you the advantages of PC gaming will all mostly on deaf ears as the PC market is not particularly interested since they have, ya know, a PC.  And console gamers mostly clearly don't care or they would be on PC.  And mods and other conveniences are showing up on consoles now making the argument even less compelling.
