The de-facto usage is using the term "Zee" since there are 300 million Americans and what, 50 million english?

Oh are we going by the numbers. (edit Rath got there first and with better numbers)

Ok 300 million Americans.

60 Million British + 8 million Rep.Ireland
+60 million French
+90 million Germans
+20 million Australians

All these people definately pronounce it with the Zed sound when speaking the letter... That's 238 million already.

I am not going to look for evidence for the other European languages but most of the central European Languages are based on Latin and will therefore pronounce the letter similarly.

Spanish is it pronounced ceta/seta apparently (using a google search) but it is similar to Zed (ceta-zeta-zet-zed) more so than Zee. That's 40 million more.
Add all the other Spanish speaking countries of South America
Add all the French, German and English speaking countries of Africa

Apparently the Canadians also say Zed (I have no idea of the Canadian population, I believe it is between 10 and 30 million)

I do believe you Americans are in a minority of numbers, even if you make yourselves heard more than other countries.
