I do agree it can be problematic to have the Scorpio tied to the Xbox 1 in terms of parity for the Xbox gamers, especially with the Scorpio releasing so late in this lifecycle

Wouldn't a 5 year console cycle be the shortest for PlayStation ever? I don't think their fan base would be happy about it.

PS1 release date 1995 in the west, PS2 release date 2000, PS3 release date 2006

 

so actually if you exclude the PS3 to PS4 time difference that includes one gigantic world economic crash in the middle, actually 5 years is pretty normal release cycle for playstation consoles
