Ever since he made a career out of branding, everything in his life has been about stamping his name on things and self promotion.
I don't believe he's suffering from any form of mental illness, but his state of mind does reflect that of a privileged individual who has never answered to anyone in his professional life.
As such, he is either incapable of identifying his own shortcomings and failures (including his well documented list of failed business endeavors) or unwilling to admit them. The latter being only slightly more preferable than the former as the former could lead to some serious problems during his administration.
