You really couldn't wait 12 more days to see the event and what will actually officially be announced before making a thread like this based on a single "rumour" out of the tons there have been about the Switch?

Maybe you are right, and I jumped the gun some. I do hope to hear better news.

I think some people are just more prone to believe a rumour like this rather than some more positive ones since Nintendo has done it in the past with going with weaker hardware to make it cheaper on price so they feel like it's just Nintendo doing the same thing again and wouldn't surpise them. Others rumors/leaks in the past from people like Emily Rogers and more have said that the Switch is easy to develop for and port to and that hardware wouldn't be an issue, if that makes you feel any better, so this 'rumor' is just one single one that is contradicting with what other people like Emily Rogers have said.

I hope that's not the case and I still hope the Switch is closer to Xbox One at least in terms of power, even if a little behind it, but at least we'll know in 12 days. Just as long as it's powerful enough to get third party games still I think it will be fine, and judging from the list of developers that are supporting the Switch, which is bigger than any other list of third party partners Nintendo has ever had, I think that will most likely be the case.

Even if it's a scenario like the Wii and Wii U again though where a lot of third party games skipped it because it was weaker or something (which again I hope isn't the case for the Switch), I still think the Switch will be successful though, just for the simple fact that Nintendo can just focus on one platform now for making it a hybrid of both their console and handhelds. Imagine all the games that can now just be on a single system instead of just being on seperate handheld or console: Pokemon, Yokai Watch, Dragon Quest, Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter, and so many more. So now the games that sold Wii U systems and games that sold 3DS systems are now all going to be on a single device, which is great because now it can sell a single system together.

60m people bought the 3DS for its library of games, which are now all going to be games on a single device, just like 13m people bought a Wii U for its library of games which are also going to be on one device now.  Games that would originally be developed on handheld only and not console are gonna be on a single platform and vice-versa.
